COMPETITOR

Q Borough Culinarians

HEAD COOK: Adrian Ashby

COMPETITION: Bacon World Championship

I'm born and raised from Queens, and even though i'm not a formally trained culinary professional, I definitely more than make up for that with my twisted competition ready creations, which for some strange reason revolve around dessert! (i.e. duck fat cannoli filling, bacon nutella brownies). I have what I know is a pretty darn good record of participation (and a few wins, some 2nd place finishes and and an honorable mention here or there) in competitive cooking events known nationwide as "TakeDowns" as well as other NYC and national cook-offs over the past 5 plus years. I recently hosted a season of an hour long weekly podcast that detailed my adventures in food and my personal battle with anxiety. Experimenting with baking is something that got me to relax after losing my job over several years ago and is still great outlet to relax after a crazy commute or stressful workday. My experience with dessert is within the realm of competitive cooking from the aforementioned duck fat canoli filling to nutella bacon brownies, smoky apple ice cream, ricotta amoretto cookies, and even foie gras donut holes! My experience with dessert also runs parallel to my current work at a hospital in Long Island, NY where i have been able to test recipes on my colleagues without fail, time and time again. Working in administration allows me the opportunity to showcase my skills and get the necessary practice in before a competition.
