HEAD COOK: Jennifer Norem
COMPETITION: Bacon World Championship
I’ve been cooking since I was 16. I’ve always had a love for cooking and always knew that cooking came second nature to me. My passion has always been cooking delicious dishes and bringing smiles to the faces of my family and friends. Nothing makes me happier then to see pure enjoyment on people’s faces from the taste of my creations. I love creating and cooking a variety of dishes from old school, street food, to comfort food, to my heritage of polish and Italian. I started off doing amateur food photography, cooking and creating my own dishes, photographing them and entering into online contests. I’ve has won multiple food photography contests with major brands and a few recipe contests. I also won first place in Red Gold's “The Golden Sizzle Online Recipe Contest" and first place for Indiana in the "Taste of America Challenge" presented by World Food Championships in 2018. It was here where my submissions earned me a spot to compete in the world’s largest food competition, The World Food Championships (WFC), held in Orange Beach, Alabama in November 2018. In my first ever live food competition I placed overall 8th place in Top Ten Bacon category. In 2019 I placed overall 2nd in Top Ten Bacon, making that the 2nd consecutive year placing in the Top Ten. I love the pressure and the adrenal rush competition cooking brings me. You’re not only cooking with the best of the best, you pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone to give the best that you got. When you’re cooking against professional chefs, private chefs, international chefs and other home cooks, you’re cooking and showcasing your talent to prove you’re the best of the best within time limits. The food sport family is just that, a great group of people who come together and show great sportsmanship, love and friendship towards every other and we all consider each other family. I have met and built a lot of great friendships; I other words would not have if it was not for the food sport competition. The most important thing about competition is it lets me showcase my love and passion for cooking. I been away a few years, But I'm back, and on to a different category this year. Hold on 2024, here I come... Chef Jen
