My story begins when my mother proposed a Cupcake War-style challenge over a spring break to fill the time away from school. I loved the show and threw myself into the challenge, baking more than 200 cupcakes over the week. Without any planning as to what to do with the cakes, we passed them around to grateful neighbors and friends, one of whom suggested I sell them as a means of paying for a summer fashion camp in New York. That was the spark. Five years later, Cupcakes by Jordan James has grown to a business that serves the cupcake needs of weddings, farmers markets, and special events throughout the Midwest with a commitment to organic, all-natural ingredients and a dedication to including options that meet a variety of dietary restrictions. I made my debut at World Food Championships in 2022 and I am excited to have fun with the amazing competitors and judges in 2023. When I’m not baking, you can find me performing on stage, playing the mellophone and French horn in my high school’s marching and concert bands, sewing, spending time with my friends, or preparing for a future in fashion design.
