COMPETITOR

Veggie

HEAD COOK: Adyre Mason

COMPETITION: World Vegetarian Championship

Chef Adyre is a force to be reckoned with in the vegan world! Not a classically trained chef, Chef Adyre left her career as a Weapon Systems Engineer in 2017 after the sudden loss of her mother. Her love of food and seeking out challenges in life led her to formulate a plan that combined her vegan lifestyle with a fast casual restaurant concept that she and her mothered dreamed of. In 2018 The Veggie was born, starting humbly as a meal prep delivery and pop up service out of Adyre’s own home. Due to organic community support, regional recognition through a pitch competition win in Chattanooga and a plant based burger competition win in Atlanta, her business, and the demand for her products grew. After continuing to excel during the pandemic Chef Adyre opened her cafe in 2021 and is currently Huntsville’s largest vegan business and only sit-in vegan restaurant. In a short time the cafe has soared to regional and national heights in addition to being the epicenter of Huntsville’s vegan scene. The Veggie received a proclamation from the Mayor in 2022 and is the first black owned business to win Huntsville’s Downtown Project of the Year Award. Earlier this year Chef Adyre made history as one of two chefs to participate in the first ever vegan episode of Beat Bobby Flay on Food Network. She is also the recipient of the 2022 Catalyst Female Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Chef Adyre’s goal is to expand her family friendly brand of familiar foods turned vegan to mixed use spaces across the East coast to continue making vegan food prominent and mainstream in today’s food culture.
