COMPETITOR

Cypress Street

COMPETITION: World Burger Championship

QUALIFYING EVENT: Atlanta Battle of the Burgers

Billy and Jenn Streck moved to Atlanta from the East Village in Manhattan to pursue their dream in opening a neighborhood pub and to start their new family. Billy is originally from New York and Jenn is a native from Atlanta, and both of them have many years of working in the bar industry. They teamed up with some local pals and opened Cypress in December 2007. Now their family has grown and so has Cypress! They love being a part of their Midtown neighborhood and community. They both really work to keep Cypress involved in the community by using products by local vendors and working with local organizations to help raise awareness and funds for charities. They also throw several events and special nights throughout the year to give back to their “regular” patrons as a “thanks for your support” gesture. They both consider Cypress as an extension of their immediate family and work really hard to make you feel welcome! They are extremely lucky to say that Cypress has become a hidden gem in Midtown, and are so happy the neighbors have embraced them! Cypress Street Pint & Plate is located in the heart of Midtown Atlanta. It is a throwback to when the drinks were always cold, the food was always hot, and the bar-staff knew your name. With fourteen beers on tap, forty bottled selections, and a fully stocked selection of wine and spirits, Cypress has become a local favorite neighborhood haunt. We offer a full menu until we close and Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. We also offer daily specials, which includes our well known Beer Geek Tuesdays for the true craft beer enthusiast. Beer Geek Tuesday is a celebration of all things beer. This can range from food and beer pairings, educational classes on craft beer, to craft beer style explorations, and special beer celebrations with many craft breweries and brewers. You can always chat with our on staff Beer Aficionado, Rob “Brew Ru” Merrick. He can help you pair beers with your food, create you a beer cocktail, answer questions about beers we are featuring, or you can just share a pint with him! The man of Mystery our GM, Ryan Crocker always goes up and beyond to make sure our customers are having a great experience. Please feel free to say hello to him, he loves to meet our neighbors! Chef "Part-Time Superhero" Richard Silvey Began his culinary career in 1995, Cypress Street Pint and Plate's Chef Richard Silvey is no stranger to the Atlanta restaurant scene. Silvey, who spent a total of seven years honing his skills at popular Atlanta restaurants Pricci, Nava and Horseradish Grill, took his first chef position at Sotto Sotto as Chef de Cuisine, alongside Ricardo Ulio, longtime friend and former Pricci coworker. After truly mastering his skills as a chef, Silvey knew it was time for a change. Silvey left the kitchen and headed back to school, attending the APES Pizza School in Milan, Italy in preparation for opening a new restaurant alongside Ulio, Fritti. Silvey remained executive chef for three years at the restaurant before it was time for another change. Following his passion for Latin American cuisine, Silvey became executive chef at Agave, which was then followed by a year and a half as Chef and Managing Partner at Vesuvius Pizzeria. After years of experience at a multitude of Atlanta hot spots, Richard Silvey made Cypress Street Pint and Plate his home in 2011. Under Chef Silvey's direction, he has had an impact on Cypress Street's seasonal, upscale pub-grub menu. A True Superhero! We rotate our beers weekly and always have some kind of special event in the works…so please check our website often for details! Thanks for your support and stopping by! Cheers!
