COMPETITOR
Makeover My Leftover
HEAD COOK: Susanne Duplantis
COMPETITION: World Open Chili Championship
I grew up in New Orleans standing on a step-stool in my grandmother's kitchen. I was her little sous chef long before I ever knew that term. I worked 22 years as general manager and catering chef in the restaurant industry. In 2014, I suffered a stroke. I had to leave the business I loved but fortunately my passion, cooking, remained strong as ever. Seeing my share of food waste over the years inspired me to begin my food blog, Makeover My Leftover. My goal is to help families reduce food waste and save money. I cater intimate gatherings and teach small cooking classes. I enjoy doing cooking demos and food waste workshops. I have a segment on a CBS affiliate station and am writing my first cookbook--on leftovers, of course! I got a taste of the WFC competition as a food blogger in 2015, which motivated me to become a Certified E.A.T. Judge in 2016. I made my first appearance in the 2017 Championships in the Chili category. I learned so much from fellow competitors it helped me place in the 2018 Burger Top Ten and win first in the Mushroom Council Bonus Bucks contest! I'm so excited to enter the kitchen arena once again for the WFC 2019 Burger Battle.
