QUALIFYING EVENT: Orlando Magazine 2012 Dining Awards
Roy St. Pierre, owner of That Deli, spent the last 15 years as a professional caterer, 8 of which consisted mostly of rock concerts. A self-taught chef, he has fed a seemingly-endless list of interesting people, a practical “who’s-who” in the music world. Such notables as Bob Dylan, Lyle Lovett and Elton John are just a few of the recognizable names of those who have sat down to enjoy his cuisine. In that former life, he and his team would prepare and serve all meals backstage for touring musical talent of every genre, including filling the dressing room rider. (Think “no green M&M’s). But in 2008, Roy and his family left the icy chill of Burlington, Vermont, for the welcome climate of central Florida With the opening of That Deli, Roy has been feeding a special crowd—those who seek unique and appealing cuisine that can be found no where else. No backstage pass required.
