COMPETITOR

Pellet Envy

HEAD COOK: Rod Gray

COMPETITION: World Barbecue Championship

QUALIFYING EVENT: Lakeland Pig Festival - Lakeland, FL

It is only natural that one of the country’s top barbecue competitors hails from Kansas City – a city best known for its barbecue. With fifty-seven championships to his name, Rod Gray of Pellet Envy is the winningest man in barbecue since 2006. Competing since 2001, Rod has competed in over 400 events from coast to coast. In that time, he has ended ten straight seasons as a top nationally ranked competitor. National champions in 2009, Pellet Envy was the runner-up national champions in 2010 and has been named the best pork ribs cooks and brisket cooks in the entire country. Additionally, Pellet Envy has competed in the Jack Daniel’s World Invitational Championship seven times in their short career. All while educating the public and promoting barbecue as America’s only true cuisine, Rod Gray has been awarded more perfect scores in competition barbecue than any of the next three teams in barbecue.
