COMPETITOR

The Salt & Pepper Baes

HEAD COOK: Bryan Morales

COMPETITION: World Burger Championship

Bryan Morales started his training at the age of 16 at Shore Lanes Bowling alley in Neptune, NJ as a short order cook. After not originally going to college, he enrolled in the Monmouth County Food Bank Culinary Program (Fulfill), where he graduated first in his class. From there, he ended up going to college, working with Sysco Foods at William Paterson, while obtaining his degree in Communications. Afterwards, he bounced from kitchen to kitchen until he found his home at Cave Bistro as a line cook for 5 years. To ease that competitive itch, Bryan started competing in Food Sport, winning the Culinary Fight Club Sip and Bite challenge in Brooklyn. Not long after that, he became the runner up of the Taste of America contest, representing his state of New Jersey. Then, Covid. During which, the crazy son of a gun opened his restaurant, Carr High Cafe, in 2021, Bryan used it as his “culinary playground” to “play with his food”. A soon to be 4-time competitor of the World Food Championships, he has competed in Burger (2021), Vegetarian (2022, 2023) where he became the inaugural Judge’s Choice for the category in 2022, and is in the Dessert Category this year in 2024. When he isn’t competing, at the restaurant, or a Sam’s Club Super Chef, he is with his wife and twin kids, or playing Multiversus as a “respectable Taz player”.
