HEAD COOK: mark whittamore
COMPETITION: World Invitational Steak Championship - EAT
Everyone wants to wake up in the morning and do a hobby they love. For Mark Whittamore, that's cooking and grilling. Mark is a passionate self-taught BBQ enthusiast whose hobby quickly turned into a way of life. For over 18 years he has competed as a one-man competition team within the KCBS & SCA circuits across the Southeastern US while running his own full time sales professional career. During his time in the BBQ world he has served as a contestant, judge, and instructor in various capacities and has won hundreds of placement awards and several Grand and Reserve Grand Championships. Additionally, Mark was the founder and has been the organizer/promoter of the The Lodge Steak Cook-off,the first SCA event east of Nashville, TN for the past four years, raising thousands of dollars for charity. "Cooking/Grilling brings me such joy and I hope to inspire others to find the same passion through food.", he says. "I'm looking forward to competing again in the 2023 World Food Championships!"
