Taste restaurants vie for World Food Championships

Taste restaurants vie for World Food Championships CAMBRIDGE - This year, Cambridge Main Street is pleased to announce that the Taste of Cambridge has been selected as an Official Qualifying Event in the Seafood category of the World Food Championships, to be held this November in Las Vegas. What this means is that the winner of the People’s Choice Best in Show will be given a Golden Ticket, automatically qualifying them to compete in the Championships!

Now in its third year, the World Food Championships is the ultimate culinary competition, featuring more than 550 competitors from across the globe. Trained chefs, restaurant cooks, and amateur home cooks will compete for hundreds of thousands of dollars and the title of World Food Champion. The categories in the 2014 World Food Championships include Barbecue, Chili, Sandwich, Burger, Dessert, Bacon and Recipe, with Pasta and Seafood added as two new categories for this year.

In a tournament style competition, the World Food Championships will identify winners in each of the categories. Once the champions of each category are crowned, they will meet at the Final Table for ultimate bragging rights and a pile of cash. When the smoke clears and the Final Table judges have their say one lucky competitor will be left standing as the World Food Champion.

The World Food Championships averages about 25,000 attendees per day. Last year’s contest was filmed by Core Media Group/Sharp Entertainment for a six-episode TV series to air on the A&E/FYI network starting on July 10.

What an honor for Taste of Cambridge and for the winning chef! Be sure to vote for your favorite chef to send them to Las Vegas to represent Taste of Cambridge and Dorchester County, Maryland!
