Florida’s Top Chef Justin Timineri Joins Final Table Judges for 2015 World Food Championships

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Sept. 4, 2015) — The World Food Championships announced today that Florida’s executive chef and Culinary Ambassador, Chef Justin Patrick Timineri (C.E.C.), will be one of the final table judges at the international food competition Nov. 4-10.

Landing in Celebration, Florida, for its first time, the 4th Annual World Food Championships uses a tournament format and a custom-judging process to whittle more than 500 contestants down to nine category winners who then compete for the ultimate honor at the Final Table. More than $350,000 in cash and prizes is awarded over eight days.

“As we work to crown this year’s culinary champion, it only makes sense that we would have Florida’s top culinary ambassador sitting at the final table,” said Mike McCloud, CEO of World Food Championships.

“Justin has impressed me — as he has countless others across the country — with his profound knowledge of all things food, and his passion for the culinary industry,” McCloud said. “We’re bringing a world-class event to a world-class location, and we’re thrilled to sprinkle in the world-class experience of Chef Timineri.”

Florida’s ambassador Chef said of the honor:

“I won’t be here to destroy anyone as a judge, I want to uplift folks and encourage them,” Timineri said. “This will be an awesome challenge, and I’ll probably have to starve myself for a day or two before judging!”

Chef Timineri’s background includes being an event chef for NASCAR, PGA and the Kentucky Derby as well as working nationally and internationally for premier hospitality and catering companies. He is a former Champion of the Food Network Challenge Great American Seafood cook‐off in New Orleans, crowned for having the country’s best domestic seafood dish in 2006. His mission is to encourage everyone to rediscover fresh, healthy Florida cuisine, which he does through extensive travel to high profile events around the world in locations such as France, England, Egypt, South Africa, Germany, Belgium, South Korea and China.

Chef Timineri’s role as an international culinary ambassador helps the State of Florida promote its “Fresh From Florida” brand.

“Florida is super diverse — in culture, commodities and product,” Timineri said. “Whether it’s seafood from the Gulf or Atlantic, our fresh Florida vegetables and fruits, or the influence of our residents who hail from deep Southern, Caribbean, Latin and Hispanic heritages, Florida will prove to be the perfect home for this world food event.”

Chef Justin is also the resident chef on the award-winning television series “How to do Florida.” Each exciting, fast-paced 30‐minute episode features multiple destinations in the Sunshine State, two unique how‐to features and a Florida cooking segment meant to inspire consumers to take advantage of Florida’s edible bounty.

Through apprenticeship, certification, practical experience and a natural passion for food and people, Chef Justin is constantly working to improve the way we eat. His teaching efforts culminate with the preparation and cooking of his healthy and innovative dishes, but the foundation of all his efforts begin with the farm. Agriculture and the growing seasons are the primary inspirations behind his unique creations.

Justin’s philosophy about food is a simple one: “Cooking should always be fun and flavorful.” He always keeps nutrition in mind and enjoys cooking with fresh, local, regional, and harvested foods.
