Walmart Announces Food Champ Fresh Contest Winners

Walmart, the world’s largest grocery retailer and presenting sponsor of the 2018 World Food Championships, just announced the Food Champs who snagged Golden Tickets for this year’s Main Event through the Food Champ Fresh Online Recipe Contest.

Anticipation has been progressively building for this year’s food fight with registration for the competition at a record high. More than 400 competition spots have already been reserved and confirmed for the 2018 Ultimate Food Fight. In fact, only a few categories remain open for 2018, which makes Walmart’s contest one of the last chances for culinary hopefuls who want to qualify. Once all the state partner teams have been slotted, the anticipated number of teams will exceed 460 — the largest field in WFC history.

The grand prize contest winner for each of the following nine (9) WFC categories —Bacon, Barbecue, Burger, Chicken, Chili, Dessert, Sandwich, Seafood and Steak — won a waived entry into his or her respective category at WFC 2018, as well as an entry into the Wild Card “elite” division — a $1,000 value — to compete for the Wild Card bonus prize purse.

Bacon: Wayne Cooper- Bacon Ranch Potato Chili Popper

BBQ: Scott Waters - Three Cheese Smoked BBQ Stuffed Peppers

Burger: George Levinthal - Bacon, Cheddar Chorizo Burger with Spicy Guacamole

Chicken: Lisa Benoit - Summer Dress Chicken

Chili: Suzy Neal - All About Autumn Chili

Dessert: Brenda Watts - Alabama Lane Hummingbird Cake & Caramel Coconut Cheesecake with Caramel Cream Frosting

Sandwich: David Adams - Grilled P J B M T Sandwich (Pepper Jack Cheese, Bacon, Mushroom, Tomato) with Saffron/Herb Garlic Butter

Seafood: Stephanie Simons - Spicy Fried Shrimp Tacos W/Charred Jalapeno-Blue Cheese Cole Slaw

Steak: Timothy Williamson - Southwestern steak with roasted tomatillo salsa and cilantro lime rice
