WFC Announces 2023 Biscuits and Jampionship Challenge

The 11th Annual World Food Championships (WFC) just got sweeter thanks to long-time Food Sport partner, The Jelly Queens. The Dallas-based jam and jelly company announced that it is bringing back the Biscuits and Jampionship ancillary for 2023, challenging competitors to create their best original flavor of jelly in a biscuit entrée, as part of the overall WFC experience this November at Fair Park in Dallas.

"This year we are super excited to work with such supportive partners, including the State Fair of Texas,” says Donna Collins, owner of The Jelly Queens. “The competition promises to be delicious!"

This unique ancillary competition is open to all cooks, regardless of whether they are registered to compete at WFC’s Main Event. To sweeten the pot even more, a $3,000 prize purse is up for grabs for the winners of this challenge.

To qualify for Biscuits and Jampionship, cooks will take part in a preliminary online recipe contest consisting of two (2) rounds, which will determine the ten (10) finalists who will compete in the Final Round at WFC. For each round, local E.A.T.™ judges will conduct a small judging event at The Jelly Queens’ facility to review all entries and determine the finalists.

Round 1 of the online portion of the contest is officially open, and entries will be accepted until August 30th. To enter, competitors are required to submit their biscuit entrée recipe via email and mail two (2) jars of their original jam recipe to The Jelly Queens headquarters. But wait, there’s a twist…Round 1 recipe submissions must include these required ingredients:

The top twenty (20) finalists moving on to Round 2 will be announced on September 5th.

Similarly, Round 2 will challenge the 20 finalists to create an original pickle recipe. Competitors will again submit their recipe via email and mail two (2) jars of their pickles to The Jelly Queens headquarters. The top ten (10) finalists will move on to compete Live at WFC.

The Biscuits and Jampionship challenge is set to take place on Wednesday, November 8th, in WFC’s Kitchen Arena.
