Best Burger in Baton Rouge headed to Vegas

Share:

Jeff Boudreaux of Denham Springs, LA built the best burger in the Baton Rouge area at the second Bull Burger Battle of the summer, taking home the first place prize and a golden ticket to compete in the World Food Championships.

Throughout the summer of 2013, the World Food Championships and Bull Outdoor Products are hosting six live event burger cookoffs across the United States as qualifying events for the World Food Championships. The Bull Burger Battle – Baton Rouge, which took place Saturday, June 15 at Goodwood Hardware in Baton Rouge, LA, brought some of the best burger cooks in Baton Rouge together in a showdown for burger supremacy.

Boudreaux’s winning burger, the ‘Italian Burger,” was a flavorful mixing of ground beef and Italian sausage, Italian bread-crumbs and parmesan. The burger was masterfully topped with bacon, swiss cheese and a colorful display of green, red and yellow peppers.

“My only professional experience is flipping burgers at Dairy Queen in high school,” said Boudreaux.

Professional experience or not, Boudreaux seems to have the recipe for burger success down pat. Call it beginner’s luck, or call it a natural inclination for building better burgers. Regardless, Boudreaux’s laidback confidence and drive to beat his brother, Brian Boudreaux, carried him all the way to the winner’s podium – lead by his ‘Italian Burger,’ of course.

Jeff Boudreaux bested the competition with an overall score of 90.3. This score is based on the World Food Championships’ proprietary scoring system, the EAT™ Method. EAT employs individual scoring based on the categories of Execution, Appearance and Taste. The scores from the three individual categories are then compiled based on a weighted percentage, resulting in the final, overall score. The Bull Burger Battle – Baton Rouge scores are listed below.

By winning the Bull Burger Battle, Jeff Boudreaux took home a premium Bull Outdoor Angus grill and a free trip to Las Vegas to compete in the World Burger Championship at the World Food Championships in November. Boudreaux will compete along with the five other Bull Burger Battle champions as part of Team Bull.

The World Burger Championship will feature 50 of the world’s best burger cooks, chefs and restaurants all competing for their share of the competition’s total prize purse of $25,000.  The winner of the World Burger Championship will take home a check for $10,000 and compete against six other category champions at the World Food Championships’ Final Table for a shot at an additional $50,000.

“The opportunity to compete in an event as large as the World Food Championships is a huge accomplishment,” said Mike McCloud, President and CEO of Trybe Targeting, the company producing the World Food Championships. “Jeff will now get a chance to represent Bull Outdoor Products and all of the Bayou against more than 400 world-class cooks and chefs. This is truly a great honor!”

The World Food Championships looks forward to welcoming Boudreaux and the rest of Team Bull to Las Vegas this fall.
