Southern sandwich makers coming to World Food Championships

After winning the "Best Sandwich in the South" competition, local chefs qualified for the World Food Championships in Las Vegas.

In a few weeks, Stuart Gates and Daniel Mann will take on chefs from all over the world in the contest's sandwich category. They will compete against 25 to 30 other chefs.

"We want to do something that's approachable. but at the same time, unique," Daniel Mann, catering manager at The Depot Coffee House and Bistro and Vicki's on Walnut. "We like to go a little out of the box on sandwiches. We're going to take that approach into the competition."

"But we're not telling what it is!" said Stuart Gates, chef/owner of The Depot Coffee House and Vicki's on Walnut.

The chefs can't say what sandwich they're planning to prepare for the competition but it is sure to delicious.
