World Food Championships Welcome Wright® Brand Bacon as the Exclusive Bacon Category Sponsor
One of the hottest categories in food sport will continue to sizzle this year, as the World Food Championships announced today that Tyson Foods, Inc. and its Wright brand bacon are returning in 2015 as the exclusive bacon category sponsor.
“We are really pleased to welcome Wright brand bacon back to the World Food Championships this year,” said Mike McCloud, CEO of World Food Championships. “Our partners at Wright brand bacon understand the creative enthusiasm that the ‘food athletes,’ from home cooks to professionals, bring to the competition.”
Last year, Wright brand bacon was front and center, providing extra sizzle at the event’s Final Table face-off as two-time World Bacon Champion Ricardo Heredia beat out 400 chefs from around the world with his bacon tamale tacos and took home the event’s grand prize of $100,000.
“At Wright brand, we take great pride in bringing a bigger and better bacon experience to families across the country and have been doing so for over 90 years,” said Cal Tharp, associate brand manager with Wright brand bacon. “Watching these premier chefs use our bacon to bring their flavorful creations to this world-class culinary stage is a great honor, and we can’t wait to see what the chefs will be bringing to the table this year.”
McCloud pointed out that the World Food Championships is a food sport but also serves as a global ideation laboratory for food brands. That’s not hard to comprehend, considering more than 500 competitors are expected in nine categories. The event will be held Nov. 3-10 in Celebration, Florida, the heart of Kissimmee, Florida.

About Wright® Brand
Rich in tradition and rich in flavor, the bold taste of Wright® brand bacon has been inspiring hearty, mouthwatering meals for bacon lovers since Roy Wright and Fay Eggleston founded the Vernon Meat Company in 1922. As part of the Tyson Foods family since 2001, the Wright brand continues to gather bacon lovers from across the country. Wright brand bacon starts with only the best pork bellies, which are hand-selected and hand-trimmed. They’re then slow-smoked with natural hardwoods for eight hours, using our 90-year-old proprietary curing recipe that brings forth Wright brand Naturally Hickory Smoked Bacon’s uncompromising taste. Today, with “more flavors to savor,” the premium quality of Wright brand bacon’s hearty, thick-cut selection still shines through. It’s Bigger, Better Bacon™.
