Southern Chef Whips Up $10,000 Winning Dish at World Food Championships

General Manager and Chef of SAW’s Soul Kitchen in Birmingham, Alabama, Matthew Statham, displayed his culinary skills at the World Food Championships (WFC) in October by taking first place in the tournament’s Chef category. After three rounds of culinary challenges, he was awarded $10,000 in cash and secured a spot at the final event to compete for the overall World Food Champion in spring 2020.

Connecticut Home Cook Brews $10,000 Chili at World Food Championships

You may not find home cook Rocky Julianelle training to the famous Stallone theme song and running the steps of the Philadelphia Museum. But his performance at this year’s World Food Championships (WFC) proved to be an equally compelling moment in Food Sport. Julianelle left the Ultimate Food Fight in Dallas, Texas this October with more than the title of World Open Chili Champion. The East Haven, Connecticut, cook also took home $10,000 in cash and a seat at WFC’s Final Table Challenge for a shot at the $100,000 grand prize.

The Fabulous Bacon Babe Turns Perfect 100 Score into $10,000 at World Food Championships

“If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.” That has been a proven motto for veteran World Food Championships’ (WFC) competitor and home cook Jodi Taffel throughout her Food Sport career. Taffel’s strategy finally paid off this past October at WFC’s 8th annual Ultimate Food Fight in Dallas, Texas, where she was crowned the 2019 Bacon World Champion. The Altadena cook’s long-awaited category win came with over $10,000 in prize winnings, a seat at WFC’s $100,000 Final Table and a perfect 100 score to add to her list of culinary achievements.

"Diamond Chef" Makes Food Sport History with Second Category Win

They say it’s hard to strike gold twice, especially in professional competitions. But home cook Lidia “Diamond Chef” Haddadian proved that it can be done in Food Sport, as she just claimed her second consecutive category champion title at the World Food Championships (WFC) in October as the event made its debut in Dallas. After an intense five-day tournament with over 450 other competition teams, Haddadian returned home to Pasadena, California with the new title of 2019 World Recipe Champion, over $10,000 in prize winnings, a seat at WFC’s $100,000 Final Table and a perfect 100 score to add to her culinary repertoire.

Local Community College Lends Helping Hand at WFC’s Dallas Debut

The World Food Championships (WFC) attracted more than 1,400 cooks from 42 states and 15 countries to Dallas as it searched for the best culinary athletes and artisans from around the globe. Alongside its 8th annual Main Event, tens of thousands of foodies attended the food-fighting festivities and special attractions. With a food fest of this magnitude, a lot of hard work and assistance are needed throughout the five-day event, so WFC enlisted El Centro College to fill numerous of its volunteer roles.

WFC Crowns First-Ever Fire Woman Champion

The 8th annual World Food Championships (WFC) was filled with more food-fighting action than ever at its Dallas debut last month. One of its highlighted competitions involved a ninety-minute challenge placing four of barbecue’s award-winning lady pitmasters head-to-head in a no electricity battle to determine the ultimate Fire Woman. This smokin’ competition brought a highly praised cast to Dallas. The line-up for this fiery event included Jackie Milligan, Christina Fitzgerald, Robyn “Grill Girl” Lindars and Heather Sinyard, all decorated pitmasters, many of whom have appeared on Food Network.
